BETHANY, Oklahoma – Southern Nazarene claimed a 75-73 victory over Oklahoma Baptist when goal tending was not called on a last second three-point shot by Steven Green.
The Bison struggled in the first half, missing 12 of 16 three-pointers and four of six free throws en route to a 40-28 deficit. Caleb Norris was the bright spot with 11 points on three-three pointers.
SNU led by 14 with 15 minutes remaining but the Bison slowly worked the lead down to 56-51 with 9:15 remaining in the game as Cagney Roberson completed a three-point player and Green added a three-pointer.
Timotis Kuckailis made it a 63-60 game with a basket in the lane at the 4:23 mark. Chandler Rickey made it a 64-62 game with a put-back with 3:01 to go.
The Storm got the lead up to five, but Tyler Lester knocked down a three-pointer to make it 74-72 with 4.6 seconds remaining.
Green made a free throw with two seconds left and purposely missed a second and the rebound went out of bounds to OBU. Green took the in-bound pass and launched a three from the corner that came up short, but a Southern Nazarene defender had made contact with the net.
Southern Nazarene knocked down five three-pointers in nine attempts and 13 of 16 free throws while dominating the glass for a 24-17 rebound advantage by halftime.
Green finished with 19 points, followed by Rickey with 14 points and 14 rebounds, Norris with 13 and Vladimir Nemcok with 10.
The loss officially ended OBU's hopes of NCCAA postseason.
The Bison return to action Thursday in a road trip to Alva, where they tip off against Northwestern Oklahoma State at 5:30 p.m.
