Softball Goes 1-1 Saturday

Oklahoma Baptist went 1-1 on Saturday with an 11-1 win over Benedictine and a 10-3 loss to Friends.

Bailey Saye had a big day for the Lady Bison in the opener, throwing five innings without an earned run while picking up three strikeouts. She also went 3-3 at the plate with an RBI.

The Lady Bison went up 3-0 in the first inning on RBI singles by Hannah Morris, Corbi Parasich and Saye.

Caitlin Hall added an RBI ground out for a 4-0 lead in the second and Kasey Jo Burgess singled in two more for a 6-0 lead in the third.

The Ravens spoiled the shutout in the fourth inning, but OBU ended the game with a five-run fifth inning on an RBI walk by Harlee Griffis ahead of a game-ending grand slam by Hall.

OBU had 14 hits in the game, including four by Shalee Cordell, Saye's three and two by Griffis.

The Lady Bison couldn't keep the momentum going into the second game as Friends scored 10 runs on six hits and 11 OBU walks. McKenzie Jones took the loss.

OBU scored a run in the first on an RBI ground out by Madison Vaughan and two in the fifth on a two-run home run by Cordell.
