SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist closes out the 2016 portion of its men's basketball schedule Saturday at 3 p.m. against Oklahoma Wesleyan.
Â
OBU leads the all-time series 15-0, including a four-game stretch in which OBU scored at least 100 points and averaged 116 points. The teams have not met since 2007-08 when they played their lowest scoring game. Since that time, OBU has won an NAIA Division I title (2010) and OWU won a NAIA Division II crown (2009) under coaches who now longer serve at their respective programs.
Â
Oklahoma Baptist lost its last game, falling to Harding, but two Bison recorded double-doubles in that contest with
Chandler Rickey getting 21 points and 11 rebounds while
Steven Green racked up 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Â
Rickey leads the Great American Conference at 3.2 blocked shots and 67.7 field goal shooting. Green leads at 9.0 rebounds, 3.2 three-pointers made and 95.5 percent free throw shooting.
Â
In OBU's last outing, point guard
Vladimir Nemcok tallied 17 points to go with six assists and not one turnover. It was his first turnover-free college game (second year at OBU and one season at Southwestern Christian).
Â
Oklahoma Wesleyan is 7-8 on the season and has averaged 101 points over its last three games.
