Stegall Sets Two Passing Records

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist junior quarterback Dezmond Stegall posted a pair of school season passing records Saturday in OBU's 51-28 loss to Ouachita Baptist.

Stegall threw Saturday for 300 yards and three touchdowns, giving him OBU season records of 2,063 and 19 passing touchdowns. The former records of 1,872 yards and 18 touchdown passes both belonged to Blake Woodard.

The Bison had a brief lead in the game when D'Ante Meeking jumped a Ouachita route, intercepted a pass and sprinted 34 yards for a touchdown. Trey Tully added the PAT for a 7-0 lead with 12:32 left in the first quarter.

Stegall got his first touchdown pass of the game, finding Stephan Turner for an eight-yard score in the second quarter, diving successfully to the end zone pylon.

Dawson Myers got the record-tying touchdown pass, making a grab and then putting on a strong move past two defenders for a 62-yard score.

Turner caught the record-breaking score from 14 yards out.

Stegall's 47-yard pass play to Cagney Roberson in the second quarter was the yardage record-breaker.

The Bison, without the services of GAC-leading rusher Isaiah Mallory, were led in rushing by Stegall with 39 yards.

Roberson led the Bison with 128 yards on his five receptions.

Defensively, Phillip Spess led the Bison with 12 tackles with Matthew Tigert adding nine. Levi Jennings had seven tackles and a fumble recovery. Hayden Ashley had one tackle for loss and Gage Wimer and Ed Morgan Jr., shared another.
