ARKADELPHIA, AR – OBU Women's basketball finishes its 2016-17 stay in Arkadelphia Saturday with a 1 p.m. tip against Henderson State.
READYING FOR THE REDDIES:
Henderson State enters the 2016-17 season without a single senior on the roster and adding seven freshmen from the off-season. The Reddies currently stand 0-2 after falling to in the same Southwest Baptist Classic as ravine partner Ouachita. HSU finished last season in the GAC Tournament as they fell to Southern Arkansas in the opening round. OBU split last season with HSU, losing a heartbreaker at home and whooping the Reddies in Arkadelphia.
THREATENING REDDIES:
#10 HALEIGH HENSON – One of only two juniors listed, Henson returns as the Reddies' go-to shooter. She's only averaged eight points through the past two games, but HSU depends on Henson to finish each possession.
#3 HALLEY ESTES – The leading scorer through the Reddies' first two games, Estes recorded an average of 16.2 points for both contests.
#2 PINK JONES – An offensive creator, Jones averaged 13 points over the tip-off weekend. She is deadly off the drive and draws fouls.
LADY BISON REDEMPTION:
After a disappointing tip-off weekend in Emporia, Kansas, OBU looks to re-vamp and correct their undoing in Arkadelphia. Watch for juniors
Tasha Edge and
Katy Custer to create offensively as the pair led in scoring against Emporia State and Missouri Southern, putting in 21 and 20 respectively. True freshman
Aliyah White led the team in rebounds, pulling down a total of 15 boards over the weekend. Expect senior
Cameerah Graves to wreak havoc defensively as she recorded 10 steals over the two games.
