ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – OBU Women's basketball embarks on their first Great American Conference test this Thursday and Saturday in Arkansas against Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State.
Â
TIGER TEST:
Picked ninth in the GAC pre-season polls, Ouachita returns only two starters from last year's roster in post players Katie Kapler and Kori Bullard. The Lady Tigers finished 7-15 in 2015-16 conference play with a key win over GAC powerhouse Harding. OUA currently stands 0-2 after dropping games to Southwest Baptist and Northwest Missouri at the Southwest Baptist Classic. OBU swept Ouachita last season, beating the Lady Tigers both at home and on the road.
Â
WATCH OUT FOR OUACHITA:
#50 KATIE KAPLER- A 6'0 post, Kapler was the second leading-scorer last season, averaging 15.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest. Kapler is capable of explosive scoring bouts as she recorded multiple 20+-point games.
Â
#33 KORI BULLARD – Another scoring threat, the 6'1 Bullard averaged 10.3 points per game. She led the team in rebounds, pulling down 7.3 per game and blocking a cumulative 27 shot attempts through the '15-16 season.
Â
LADY BISON REDEMPTION:
After a disappointing tip-off weekend in Emporia, Kansas, OBU looks to re-vamp and correct their undoings in Arkadelphia. Watch for juniors
Tasha Edge and
Katy Custer to create offensively as the pair led in scoring against Emporia State and Missouri Southern, putting in 21 and 20 respectively. True freshman
Aliyah White led the team in rebounds, pulling down a total of 15 boards over the weekend. Expect senior
Cameerah Graves to wreak havoc defensively as she recorded 10 steals over the two games.
