ARKADELPHIA, AR – The Bison look for redemption this week as they travel to Arkansas to face ravine rivals and Great American Conference foes Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State.
Â
OPPOSING OUACHITA:
The Tigers enter GAC play as the reigning conference champions. OUA has held that title for four of the past five years under head coach Dennis Nutt. After making a berth in the NCAA Tournament, Ouachita fell in the first round to Northwest Missouri. They return eight lettermen from last year's national tournament team, including two seniors in Justin McCleary and Lakee Westbrook, who earned the GAC Newcomer of the Year award. The Tigers stand 1-0 after a come-back win over UT-Tyler and behind a 20-point performance from Westbrook.
Â
TELLING TIGERS:
#1 LAKEE WESTBROOK – Averaging 14 points over the '15-16 season, point guard Westbrook will look to lead his team to back-to-back conference titles. Watch for No. 1 to put his body on the line for the Tigers.
Â
#24 JUSTIN MCCLEARY – Following in his fellow-senior's footsteps, McCleary dropped 18 points against UT-Tyler. Â
Â
#4 AITOR LOPEZ-BRETON – The 6'7 forward scored 13 in the Tigers' season opener and was sent to the charity stripe 10 times. Watch for Lopez-Breton to draw contact down low.
Â
COME-BACK BISON:
After dropping a heartbreaker to in-town rival St. Gregory's, the Bison will look to redeem themselves and make a statement in GAC play. Look for seniors
Kevin Franceschi and
Steven Green to become OBU's version of the Splash Bros and junior
Chandler Rickey to beat up in the paint. Transfer
Travon Moore will also shine after proving himself as a member of the starting five.
