SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist returns to Great American Conference play when they travel to Alva, Oklahoma to face winless Northwestern Oklahoma State. The Lady Bison are riding a two game winning streak against GAC opponents, and will look to continue their recent success against the struggling Rangers.
At 5-3 on the season, the Lady Bison are just one win away from matching the win total from last year.
Jennifer Goethe leads one of the top defenses in the conference that includes three freshmen in
Lara Haring-Lovett,
Rachel Beiermann and
Kelsey Bumgarner. OBU has allowed just 11 goals all season, and keeper
Emma Beck enters the match with a 1.37 goals-against average and .804 save percentage.
Oklahoma Baptist can also find the back of the net, averaging 1.38 goals per match.
Abigail Hicks and
Ruth King hold the team lead with three goals scored each, ranking them in the top 10 in the GAC this season. Hicks also has a team-high two assists.
Northwestern Oklahoma State has not found much success this season, failing to collect a victory in 10 matches this season. The Rangers defense is allowing 25.2 shots per match, and opponents are putting up a robust 4.75 goals per contest. Yazmin Gomez has found the back of the net for three of the five goals scored by Northwestern all season.
This kicks off a five match span of conference road games for OBU, as they will not return home until Oct. 22.
