SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist hits the road for a meeting with Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. from inside the Percefull Fieldhouse in Alva. The Lady Bison will look to cement their claim on first place in the Great American Conference standings with back-to-back wins for the week.
 
Oklahoma Baptist (15-11, 9-3 GAC) have won two of their last three GAC contests, and have never lost to the Rangers since making the move to Division II. The offense is currently generating 11.61 kills per set, paced by right-side hitter Nicole Fleitman who has 2.87 kills/set to her credit. Kynnedy Myers, who led the team with nine kills last night against East Central, is averaging 1.84 kills/set over her last five contests to go along with an average of 7.95 assists/set.
 
Along the back row, Sierra VeraCruz has averaged 4.12 digs per set in her last five outings, and is averaging a team-high 3.89 digs/set for the season. Oklahoma Baptist is currently averaging 2.15 blocks per set, led by Cadyn Laing at a 1.08 blocks/set clip. Sophia Couto has provided additional help at the net, averaging at least one block per set over her last five matches.
 
Northwestern Oklahoma State (3-24, 1-11 GAC) has struggled under second-year head coach Frederick Wagner, and currently find themselves in the midst of a six-match losing streak. Offensively, the Rangers rank last in kills/set, and are paced by Nicole Fahey at 2.23 kills/set. The defense has had their own issues, with opponents averaging 13.26 kills/set while swinging .226 despite 4.15 digs/set by Carley Greer.
 
The Lady Bison will remain on the road after the match as they make the trip to Weatherford, Oklahoma, to take on Southwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. in the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
