SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist Volleyball is set to enter the fray against Arkansas Tech on Friday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. in Russellville, Arkansas, in a clash of the Great American Conference's top two teams in the standings.
 
Both teams enter Friday's bout at 7-2 in league play. The two sides finished first and second in the final regular season standings last season, with OBU finishing as runner up with a 14-2 record.
 
Oklahoma Baptist (13-10, 7-2 GAC) will be entering the game looking to right the ship after dropping their last two matches against Arkansas-based competition. The Lady Bison are averaging 11.78 kills per set, led by Nicole Fleitman at 2.93/set. Cadyn Laing and Shekinah Sharpe have provided additional options on offense, averaging 2.05 and 1.88 kills/set. Meanwhile, Kynnedy Myers, the reigning National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week, is averaging 8.68 assists per set, the seventh-best average among setters in the GAC.
 
On the other side of the floor, OBU continues to boast a top-three defense. The Lady Bison are averaging 16.84 digs per set, paced by Sierra VeraCruz with a set average of 3.78. Sharpe is averaging 3.73 digs/set. At the net, OBU is one of only three GAC teams to average greater than 2.00 blocks per set. Laing is second in the conference with 1.09 blocks/set.
 
Arkansas Tech (15-8, 7-2 GAC) had won seven matches on the bounce before Southwestern Oklahoma State halted the streak with a 3-0 sweep in Weatherford, Oklahoma, last Saturday. Hunter Eshnaur leads a team that is averaging 13.30 kills/set with 3.52/set to her credit. The Golden Suns provide a tandem look at setter, with Sarah Rosinke and Amanda Milnick combining to average 10.83 assists/set. Madison Nagel holds the team lead with a set average of 4.52 digs/set.
 
Following the conclusion of Friday night's match, OBU will remain in Arkansas as they make the trip to Searcy to face Harding on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m.
