SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist Volleyball dropped a three-set decision to Arkansas-Fort Smith, 3-0 (17-25, 20-25, 18-25), in nonconference action on Tuesday night inside the Noble Complex.

Nicole Fleitman paced the side with eight kills, while
Cadyn Laing and
Kynnedy Myers, the reigning National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week, combined for 12 kills. Myers handed out 25 assists in the loss.

Defensively,
Sierra VeraCruz led the way with 15 digs.
Shekinah Sharpe was second on the team with eight digs, and
Hayden Blair, making her first appearance in nearly a month, had five. The Lady Bison were their usual dominant selves at the net, out-blocking UAFS 8-to-4, including three total blocks each by
Sophia Couto and
Taylor Williams.

"We learned some things about our team tonight," said OBU head coach
Anna Howle. "We made some adjustments tonight; it was a good learning experience for us.

"Arkansas-Fort Smith is a good team. They've gone far in the NCAA Tournament the last couple of years, so it was a good match to measure ourselves and see where we are as a team."

The Lady Bison finish the season 6-8 in nonconference games, though they played six teams that made it to the NCAA Tournament in 2015, including two Elite Eight participants.

Oklahoma Baptist (13-10, 7-2 GAC) resumes Great American Conference action on Friday, Oct. 21 when they head to Russellville, Arkansas, to battle Arkansas Tech for sole possession of first place in the GAC standings.
