ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas – Oklahoma Baptist put on a shooting display in the first half and claimed a Great American Conference road win at Ouachita Baptist, 95-76, Thursday in Bill Vining Arena.
Playing in front of a crowd of friends and family from nearby Little Rock, Kiara Moore had 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists at halftime. Moore finished with her first double-double in a Lady Bison uniform, getting 24 points to go with 10 rebounds and five assists.
Oklahoma Baptist shot 54 percent from the field, connected on 7 of 11 three-pointers and 11 of 12 free throws in the first half. McKenzie Cooper added 10 in the first half.
"Kiara had a fantastic night and that opened things up for the rest of the team," said OBU Coach Casi Bays. "It's been a roller-coaster season. Tonight is the first time seeing an opponent a second time. In the first half of the season we learned we can compete."
The win completed a season sweep of Ouachita Baptist.
The first quarter was close but Cameerah Graves swished a half-court shot at the first-quarter horn to make it a 21-15 Lady Bison lead.
That proved to be a big momentum swing and the Lady Bison dominated the second quarter 27-12 to take a 48-27 lead at the half.
Ouachita Baptist poured in 31 points in the third quarter, but only dented the Lady Bison lead, as Oklahoma Baptist had 27 points in the quarter.
OBU added a 20-18 fourth quarter and led by as much as 26 points in the second half.
All five Lady Bison starters reached double figures in the scoring column, as did reserve forward Racquel Dudzevich. Following Moore's 24, Tasha Edge had 18 with Graves, McKenzie Cooper and Dudzevich scoring 10 each. Graves also had eight assists.
Breanna Harris, who eclipsed the 1000-point mark in her career, led Ouachita with 22 points.
The Lady Bison, now 8-10 overall and 6-6 in the Great American Conference, return to action Saturday, also in Arkadelphia, taking on Henderson State in a p.m. tip
