KISSIMMEE, Florida - Oklahoma Baptist defeated eighth-seeded Lincoln Christian (Ill.) in straight sets Thursday afternoon at the NCCAA National Championship, punching a ticket for a semi-final berth.
The Lady Bison combined for a .358 hitting percentage as they took three sets from the Red Lions, defeating LCU 25-22, 25-20, and 25-14.
Three players finished with double digit kills for OBU, including a team-high 11 from
Carey Strong.
Cat Roth and Priscila Mendes each added 10 kills and
Kate Decker finished with nine kills and 11 digs.Â
Kaitlyn Lucy ended the match with 20 digs, giving her 900 total for the season and adding to her single-season OBU record. The senior from Midlothian, Texas, is now just 32 digs shy of the single-season NCAA Division II record under the current rules.
Lincoln Christian, now 26-17, will face Warner tomorrow in the final game of the tournament for both teams.
With the win, OBU improves to 25-12 for the season and remains one of two undefeated teams in their pool, joining top-seeded Indiana Wesleyan. The two teams will both advance to the semi-final round, with seeding to be determined after the teams meet each other at 9 a.m. Central on Friday morning.
