Bison Grind Out Win

Oklahoma Baptist used a 25-6 free throw advantage and 10 blocked shot by Chandler Rickey for a 73-64 win over Manhattan Christian Saturday.

Rickey finished one point shy of a triple-double, getting nine points, and career-highs 16 rebounds and 10 blocked shots.

The Thunder dictated the pace for much of the game in OBU's first game in a week, the team having taken time off for final exams.

The Bison fell behind 9-0 to start the game, turning the ball over twice and missing five shots before getting a layup from Timotis Kuckailis. That basket started a 9-0 Bison run to square the scoreboard.

"Playing after finals is tough," said OBU Coach Quinn Wooldridge. "We played slow, but we'll practice on picking up the pace. We need to win the temp. We can't let other teams play their game in our house."

OBU used a 23-6 run to open a 38-22 lead with 30 seconds left in the first half. Steven green had eight points, Tyler Lester six and Caleb Norris five in that run.

OBU led 38-24 at the half.

The Thunder was able to close to within seven points on two occasions in the second half, but the Bison answered every rally.

Green led the Bison with 18 points, followed by Kuckailis and Lester with 15 apiece with Norris contributing 12.

Michael White had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead MCC.

Now 5-4, the Bison close out the pre-Christmas schedule Monday at 7 p.m., hosting Central Christian.
