Clayton Coffman joined the OBU Athletics Department in August of 2021 as Director of Communications following a nearly seven-year stint as Assistant Director of Athletics Communications at NCAA Division III Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.
During his time in Gambier promoting the school's 22 sports teams, the athletics communications office saw significant expansion and growth in numerous facets, namely video production, social media content and online Web broadcasts. He also helped nominate and promote many CoSIDA academic award honorees, wrote feature stories and game recaps and maintained statistics.
Prior to Kenyon, Coffman spent two years at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. He was responsible for video production, broadcasting Trojan athletics events and updating the school’s athletic website. He also wrote game recaps, updated social media accounts and produced game programs for Trevecca, while updating record books and player statistics for each athletic team.
Coffman has also had previous stops at two other NCAA Division II schools, Delta State University and Flagler College.
A veteran broadcaster, he has provided play-by-play commentary of multiple sports for numerous high schools, colleges and summer league teams.
Born in Madrid, Spain, Coffman attained a bachelor of arts degree in broadcast communications at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, in 2009 before earning his master’s in organizational leadership from Trevecca in May of 2014. He is married to the former Allison Cade who is OBU's Director of Community Experiences.
