Walter Wright

Walter Wright joined the OBU Athletics Sports Medicine team in 2015 as a graduate assistant, and was elevated to his current position as an Athletic Trainer the following year. He has worked with a variety of teams throughout his time on Bison Hill, and currently works with the men's basketball and volleyball programs at OBU. Wright was on the sidelines during the Bison's run to the NCAA Division II men's final four in 2025-26, and has been a part of multiple conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances with the volleyball team.

He is a double graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University, earning his bachelor's degree in athletic training (2015) and a master's in education (2017). Wright is a board-certified and licensed athletic trainer in the state of Oklahoma, with certifications from the National Athletic Trainers Association and Oklahoma Athletic Trainers Association. He is also certified in Master Dry Needling Levels 1 & 2, as well as Fascial Distortion Model - Lower Extremity Certified. Additionally, Wright serves as an adjunct instructor in OBU's Division of Exercise, Sports, and Recreation.

He resides in Shawnee with his wife, Tori, who is an assistant coach with the Bison volleyball program. The couple is expecting their first child in September 2026.
