Kwesi Mashack joined the Oklahoma Baptist football staff in 2025 as the program's linebackers coach after previous coaching stops at East Central and Illinois College. A former Pac-12 student-athlete at Arizona, Mashack brings both Division I playing experience and Great American Conference coaching experience to Bison Hill.
Prior to Oklahoma Baptist, Mashack spent two seasons at fellow Great American Conference institution East Central University as the Tigers' safeties coach and graduate assistant. During his tenure in Ada, he helped develop some of the conference's top defensive backs, including Jimmy Pitts, who led the GAC with five interceptions in 2023.
Mashack also played a key role in an East Central defense that finished among the nation's top 15 in passing defense during the 2023 season. In 2024, he mentored Tavare Smith Jr. to All-GAC honors after Smith led the conference in passes defended.
Before his time at East Central, Mashack served as wide receivers coach at Illinois College during the 2022 season. The Blueboys posted a 6-4 record while producing two all-conference receivers and an All-American wideout.
As a student-athlete, Mashack competed at the University of Arizona from 2014-18 as a scholarship player for the Wildcats football program. During his five seasons in Tucson, he appeared in 33 career games, earned team captain honors and competed against some of the nation's top programs in the Pac-12 Conference. Mashack played high school football at Vista Murrieta High School (CA), where he was ranked as one of the nation's top defensive back prospects.
A native of Inglewood, CA, Mashack earned his bachelor's degree from Arizona in 2018 before completing his master's degree at East Central in 2024. His brother, Jahmai, was a second-round pick of the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2025 NBA Draft following an outstanding career at the University of Tennessee.
