Pete Kron serves as the throw coach for the OBU track and field programs.

An Arizona state high school champion in the shotput and discus in 1965, Kron attended the University of Oklahoma on a track scholarship. He placed in the top six in the Big 8 Conference meet several times in the shotput and discus. 

Kron served as assistant coach to J.D. Martin at the University of Oklahoma for 26 years, from 1974 until his retirement in 2001. He coached several NCAA champions in the shotput, as well as All-Americans in the discus, high jump, long jump and triple jump.

Kron has one son, Jonathan.
