SHAWNEE – The Bison took control of their match against Newman on Wednesday, scoring both of their goals in the first half. In the process, Oklahoma Baptist (1-3) won its first game of the season, picking up a 2-0 victory at the OBU Soccer Complex.

The Bison proved dominant during the opening half, outshooting their opponents 15-2 and holding the Jets from their first shot attempt until 16 minutes into the game. Addison Gray nearly scored the first goal for the Bison; however the shot would be overturned due to being offsides. Despite a challenge by Oklahoma Baptist, the call was upheld.

A scoreless 20 minutes was quickly interrupted with an unassisted shot by Hali White finding the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

The Bison continued to pressure the goal, scoring once again in the 31^st minute. After a shot from about 25 yards from freshman Ryann Phillips was saved, Camden Ocheskey put the ball back in the net to double the OBU lead. Neither team would score in the second half, despite multiple shot attempts on both sides.

Oklahoma Baptist finished the game with 20 shots, 10 of which shot were on frame. The offense recorded shots from Hope White, Phillips, Ajae Belliston, Addison Gray, Hali White, and Ocheskey. Goalkeeper Makenzie Christian recorded six saves as well and recorded her first career shutout.

The Bison look to carry the momentum to their first road game on Sep. 14 at Emporia State.
