Wells Breaks Single Season Homerun Record

SHAWNEE, Okla. — Oklahoma Baptist and Harding split Thursday's doubleheader at Regent Bank Park, as the Bison claimed a 3–1 win in the opener before Harding powered past OBU 13–4 in the nightcap. The split moves Oklahoma Baptist to 34–7 on the season, while Harding improved to 22–15.

Game 1 — Oklahoma Baptist 3, Harding 1
Pitching dominated early in the opener, with both teams held scoreless through four innings. Harding cracked the scoreboard first in the fifth as Lana Danielson doubled and later scored, giving Harding a brief 1–0 edge.

Oklahoma Baptist answered immediately in the bottom half. Greenlee Wells reached base and moved into scoring position before Abby Laskowski delivered an RBI double to left center. Moments later, Keirstin Briggs followed with another double to score Laskowski and give OBU the lead.

The Bison added insurance in the sixth when Wells made history launching a record breaking solo homer to left center, extending the advantage to 3–1. Greenlee now has the program homerun single season record with 19.

Jaycee Shaffer was outstanding in the circle, going the distance while allowing just two hits and one unearned run. The right‑hander struck out eight to earn her 18th win of the season.

Game 2 — Harding 13, Oklahoma Baptist 4
Harding struck quickly in the nightcap, opening the game with three runs in the first inning highlighted by a three‑run homer from Ella Friederich. Harding added six more in the second, with Bailey Robinson blasting a three‑run home run as Harding built a commanding 9–2 lead.

Oklahoma Baptist showed signs of life early, scoring twice in the first on an RBI single from Nichelle Marshall before she scored on a defensive miscue. Marshall later added a two‑run homer in the seventh, but the Bison were unable to close the gap.

Harding capped the scoring with four runs in the seventh to secure the split. Brooklyn Gobble earned the win in relief, working 3.2 innings while allowing just two earned runs.

The Bison return to action tomorrow at 12 pm for the rubber match.
