SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist (32-15, 23-6 GAC) had no trouble against Arkansas Tech on Friday, winning the Great American Conference doubleheader by 8-2 and 4-0 scores at Bison Softball Park.
For the green and gold, they have won 22 of their last 26 games.
GAME ONE
A pair of four-run innings powered Oklahoma Baptist past Arkansas Tech, 8-2, on Friday at Bison Softball Park. The Bison offense racked up 13 hits, highlighted by clutch hitting and aggressive base running to improve to 31-15.
After three scoreless frames, OBU broke through in the fourth.
Ally Ryan ignited the rally with a two-run homer to center, and the Bison didn't stop there.
Kaylee Davis added an RBI double before
Haley Hacker drove in another with a single, putting the hosts up 4-1.
Arkansas Tech (26-24) had briefly led in the top half of the fourth, courtesy of a Sharlee Jackson RBI single. But the Golden Suns' momentum was short-lived.
In the fifth, the Bison tacked on four more, capped by
Kaley Cook's bases-clearing triple to right center. That was her seventh triple of 2025, tying the school's single-season record set previously in 1984 by Amy Lassetter. Ryan added a sacrifice fly in the frame, finishing with three RBI.
Jorja Barrett (9-5) tossed a complete game for the win, scattering five hits and striking out four. Arkansas Tech's Aly White (7-6) took the loss, surrendering five runs over four frames.
Greenlee Wells went 4-for-4 with two doubles for the Bison, while Cook and Ryan each drove in three.
The Bison defense was flawless, committing no errors.
GAME TWO
Oklahoma Baptist used early offense and dominant pitching to shut out Arkansas Tech 4-0 in the finale.
Jaycee Shaffer was in complete control in the circle, tossing a complete game four-hit shutout to earn her 18th win. She didn't walk a batter and struck out two, retiring 13 batters via flyout in a tidy 1-hour, 35-minute effort.
OBU got on the board in the second after Wells doubled and later scored on a bases-loaded walk issued to
Nichelle Marshall. The Bison added three more in the third when
Sammie Greene singled and scored on a two-run blast by
Morgan Max. Wells followed with a solo homer of her own down the right-field line to make it 4-0.
That was all the support Shaffer needed, as Arkansas Tech (26-25) managed just four hits—two from Sadie Turner—and failed to advance a runner past second base.
Alexis Findley took the loss for the Golden Suns, allowing four runs in 2.1 innings before giving way to Aidan Dayberry, who closed with 3.2 scoreless frames.
With the victory, Oklahoma Baptist secured its 12th shutout of the season, reinforcing its position as a top contender in the GAC.
OBU returns to action on April 22nd at Southern Nazarene.
