Ally Ryan had two hits, a sacrifice fly and four RBI during Oklahoma Baptist's dominating 9-1 win over East Central on Sunday. The victory clinched the Great American Conference series for the Bison who improved to 12-11 overall and 7-2 in the league.
ECU gained the first lead of the game in the opening frame, however, it would be the only time the hosts reached home.
It wasn't until the fourth that OBU broke through. Ryan plated
Sammie Greene with a sacrifice fly before
Abby Laskowski drove home
Greenlee Wells for the go-ahead, 2-1 advantage.
Before the Bison offense put the game away in the following frames, OBU pitchers
Jorja Barrett and
Morgan Max did a fine job in the circle. In fact, after the Tigers scored in the first, just three ECU base runners reached scoring position. The duo totaled seven strikeouts and induced a combined three fly-ball outs and seven groundouts.
For the OBU attack, its fifth-inning performance put the game out of reach. Max drove in
Kaylee Davis on a fielder's choice to bump the lead to 3-1. A couple batters later, Ryan drove in Greene and
Kaley Cook and boosted the team's advantage to 5-1.
The green and gold then got their sixth and seventh runs courtesy of RBIs from Wells and Laskowski.
OBU would add two more runs in the sixth for its final scores of the game.
Next on the schedule for the Bison is a March 11 GAC doubleheader with Southern Nazarene.
