High-Powered Offense Keys Hillcats' Victory Over Bison

PIEDMONT, Okla. – Oklahoma Baptist (6-6) suffered a 7-1 defeat to No. 8 Rogers State (10-3) in their second meeting of the season with the Hillcats on Saturday afternoon, a part of the Raising Cane's Invitational. The Bison's nightcap contest against Missouri Southern was canceled due to weather conditions.

OBU defeated RSU 5-3 last week in the OC/UCO Invitational.

Today, Rogers State compiled seven hits en route to the victory, while OBU charted five connections and committed a season-high in errors (4).

Fifth-year pitcher Kayleigh Jones took the loss in the circle after surrendering five runs and six hits in 4.0 innings. Jones also struck out three and walked four.

Maggie Place came in as relief and twirled two frames, giving up an earned run and one hit while striking out a batter.

Sammie Greene tallied two hits in four at-bats, while three others registered a connection. Of those, Morgan Max, recorded the lone RBI for the Bison.

The Hillcats rushed to a 3-0 lead through three frames before a Max double scored Adi Reese.

Rogers State responded and tacked on four runs over the next two innings before sealing the game on a forced pop-up.
