Bison Triumph over Tigers, 4-0

SHAWNEE – Olivia Kenas scored twice during Oklahoma Baptist's 4-0 victory over East Central on Wednesday in Great American Conference play at the OBU Soccer Complex. The Bison controlled the match with a balanced attack, netting a goal in the first half and three in the second to seal the win.

Kenas opened the scoring in the 19th minute with she headed home a corner from classmate Alanna Bloomingdale. Despite several attempts from East Central to equalize, the Tigers were unable to break through the solid goalkeeping of Claire Stoermer, who recorded three saves.

In the second half, Oklahoma Baptist took full control. Emma Teague doubled their lead in the 64th minute, this time with another header from another assist by Bloomingdale. Then 14 minutes later, Krissy Fulton fired a highlight-reel shot from the right side of the 18 into the upper-left corner of the ECU net. That extended the lead to 3-0 in the 78th minute.

OBU's final goal came about a minute later. After great passing from Fulton and freshman Sophie Jordan into the Tigers' box, a foul was called which resulted in a penalty kick opportunity. Kenas stepped up in that moment and scored into the right side, securing her second goal of the day.

ECU struggled offensively, managing 10 shots but only three on goal. Madison Mayhall, East Central's goalkeeper, made four saves, but the Tigers' defense could not contain Oklahoma Baptist's persistent attack.

The Bison maintained defensive discipline, as well, conceding only two corner kicks and committing just two fouls. With the victory, Oklahoma Baptist continued their strong start to the conference season, remaining unbeaten at 2-0-1 and 3-3-2 overall.

Next on the schedule for the Bison is a road date with Ouachita on Oct. 9.
