Jones Records No-Hitter, Bison Win 15th Straight Game

EDMOND, Okla. – Kayleigh Jones' fourth career no-hitter steered No. 19 Oklahoma Baptist to a 4-0 victory over Arkansas Tech (28-20, 17-12 GAC) in the opening contest of the three-game series on Saturday night at Tom Heath Field.

It was the 15th straight victory for OBU, a new school record for consecutive wins. The Bison move to 41-9, including a 26-5 conference mark, and have claimed at least a share of the GAC's regular season title.

Jones is the first pitcher in program history to chart four solo no-hitters. She improves her record to 29-5 with 13 shutouts this season.

Today, Jones produced 7.0 innings of flawless work in the circle. The senior punched out eight without walking a single batter. One Golden Sun reached base on an error, which erased the possibility of a perfect game. It would have been the first of Jones' career.

Oklahoma Baptist collected four runs on six hits, highlighted by a three-run blast from freshman Kennedy Clark. It was her second home run of the year, as she finished the day 2-for-2.

Emily Adler tallied the other RBI on her only hit today. Sammie Greene, Samantha Campos, and Ally Ryan also registered connections.

Jones established her dominance early on, retiring Tech 1-2-3 through the top of the opening frame. The next at-bat, Adler singled to tally the game's first hit.

Then Ford reached on an error before Clark clarked cleared the bags with a moonshot over right field to put OBU up 3-0.

With the Bison defense backing her, Jones and the green and gold took care of business the rest of the way.

Oklahoma Baptist stamped the victory in the fifth on a sacrifice fly that plated Campos for the game's final score.

The two clubs return tomorrow for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
