Bison Romp Blossoms to Sweep Series

MONTICELLO, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist (25-8, 10-4 GAC) earned its second conference sweep of the season in a 4-0 route of Arkansas-Monticello (13-12, 6-8 GAC) in Sunday's series finale. With the victory, OBU moves into a four-way tie for first place in the latest GAC standings with a league record of 10-4.

Kayleigh Jones notched her 17th win of the season and nearly recorded her fourth career no-hitter, allowing one connection in today's shutout. Additionally, Jones punched out 10 batters for the 12th time this year.

At the plate, Adi Reese's solo home run highlighted a three-hit day for the senior. Reagan Ford and Gwyn Miller were almost perfect when swinging the bat, as each posted 3-for-4 showings in the box. For Miller, it was her first career game with a trio of hits.

Just three hits were allowed through the game's first three frames, led by OBU's two. Ford was responsible for each of the connections for the Bison.

Then Reese got the party started in the fourth as she went yard to put the green and gold ahead by a score. The momentum led into the bottom of the frame as Jones and company retired the side 1-2-3.

Fireworks continued in the fifth with two more scores from Oklahoma Baptist, courtesy of a UAM error and a Clark single.

After a scoreless sixth inning, OBU tacked on another run in the seventh for good measure on Reese's third hit of the ball game. Then three straight fly-outs secured the win at the bottom of the playing period.

Oklahoma Baptist returns home to Shawnee next weekend after being on the road for 10 games to take on No. 16 Southern Arkansas (22-8, 10-4 GAC). First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 5 p.m.
