SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist (33-21, 19-14 GAC) wrapped up the regular season with a sweep of Henderson State (12-42, 9-24 GAC) on Saturday evening, besting the Reddies 2-0 and 4-2 at Bison Softball Park.

With 31 overall wins, including 19 conference victories, the Bison complete their best regular season since joining Division II. Additionally, they end the season riding a six-game winning streak, cemented by a second straight series sweep.

OBU outscored HSU 14-2 through three games, run-ruling the opposition on Friday before claiming the series today. Furthermore, the Bison totaled 20 hits in the series, including 12 on Saturday.

Oklahoma Baptist finished the day with nine stolen bases, led by a couple from Reagan Ford and Sammie Greene.

Kayleigh Jones and Aspen Younce were fantastic, again. Jones tossed a complete 7.0 innings in game one, fanning 11, before stepping in for an inning to claim her fifth save of the season in the finale.

Jones didn't allow a run the entire series.

Younce twirled  6.2 innings and struck out six in game two en route to her 12th victory of the season. She faced 26 batters and surrendered one earned run.

The threesome of Adi Reese, Sammie Greene, and Emily Smith charted two hits apiece to lead OBU at the plate. Additionally, Aileen Avelar's two RBIs fueled the Bison's bats.

GAME ONE

A perfect game for Kayleigh Jones loomed in the balance through six innings, but HSU managed a hit at the top of the sixth to shut down the feat.

While the anticipation built through these frames, the Bison got on the board in the second and the fifth. A Jocee Sparks sacrifice fly made the first score possible, plating Adi Reese for a 1-0 lead.

Afterward, Reagan Ford singled to score Sammie Greene at the bottom of the fifth.

Then, in the final frame, Jones struck out a batter and relied on her defense to cement the second shutout of the series.

GAME TWO

Henderson State woke up in game two to chart three hits, but OBU's seven hits outshined the opposition in the finale.

The scoring started when Sammie Greene stole home to put the home team up 1-0 in the second.

Then, Oklahoma Baptist tacked on three more in the following inning after a couple of singles from Shelby Warden and Aileen Avelar.

After a scoreless inning, The Reddies got on the board in the fifth. Henderson State threatened in the seventh with a score to draw within two, but Emily Smith silenced the comeback with a third-out catch in left field.

Next week, Oklahoma Baptist will return to action at the Great American Conference Tournament in Bentonville, Ark., set to begin on May 5. Further information regarding the tournament's schedule will be released in the following days.
