Bison Drop Game One of Lubbock Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Oklahoma Baptist (3-2, 0-0 GAC) softball team struggled to find their rhythm in game one of the Lubbock Christian Invitational, falling 8-0 to LCU (3-2, 0-0 LSC) on Thursday night.

In the beginning frame for the Lady Chaps, Savannah Wysocki got the home team off to a hot start with a triple down the left-field line. However, pitcher Kayleigh Jones regained control to strike out two of the next three.

At the top of the second, Mia Moddelmog was walked, putting the Bison on base for the first time in the contest. Unfortunately, LCU caught her stealing to collect the third out and send Oklahoma Baptist out to the field.

At the bottom of the inning, the OBU defense and pitching were near perfect. The Bison struck out one and ended the frame with two straight outs, allowing no hits.

Lubbock Christian finally broke the seal of the game in the following inning, erupting for six runs. The Lady Chaps good fortune would continue as they added two their sum to earn tonight's victory.

Pitcher Kayleigh Jones charted five strikeouts through 2.2 innings of action and allowed five runs before being relieved by Shianne Eddings. Eddings struck out one and surrendered three runs in 1.1 innings of work.

Oklahoma Baptist returns to action tomorrow for two games, one at 10 a.m. against Colorado Christian and another versus Colorado School of Mines at 6 p.m.
