Diaz’s Last-Second Goal Propels Bison

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Freshman Duschka Diaz picked an opportune time to score her first collegiate goal as Oklahoma Baptist defeated Ouachita 1-0 in the Great American Conference Tournament on Thursday.

After a Katie Fowler corner, the ball bounced around a bit and came to Diaz who shot into the left side.

OBU advances to play either Northwestern Oklahoma State or host Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday for the championship. For coach Michael White's team, they'll by playing for the GAC title for the sixth straight season.

Through the first 15 minutes of the opening stanza OBU was in control of most of the possession. However, just one shot attempt came, a Fowler attempt at the two-minute mark.

Over the remainder of the half, OBU had some solid chances while Ouachita didn't generate too many quality opportunities.

In the final seven minutes of the half, Kaylee Swaner and Jadynn Daggs each had on-target looks. At the 38th minute, Swaner fired from outside the 18-yard box but her attempt from the left was denied on a leaping save from Ouachita goalie Michelle Snow.

Daggs got in the mix with under four minutes left. A pass from the right wing by freshman Krissy Fulton was headed by Daggs, however, her header attempt by the left post went high.

As for the Tigers, they had four shots go towards the Bison net. But none were too difficult for Mia Pendleton to handle and OBU's goalie ended up with four first-half saves.

Second-half action was all Bison. In fact, they out-shot Ouachita 12-2. OBU peppered the Tigers' net, which included on-target attempts from Fowler, Olivia Kenas and Daggs.

Then in the final half-minute, OBU's efforts came through with Diaz's goal.
