Bison Drop Season Finale to Crimson Storm

SHAWNEE – On the final night of football inside Crain Family Stadium this fall, Oklahoma Baptist suffered a 56-21 loss to Southern Nazarene.

The Crimson Storm spoiled an evening dedicated to the seniors of the OBU program, finishing with nearly 600 yards of offense. Meanwhile, the Bison compiled 386 total yards, including 216 through the air.

In his first start on Bison Hill, Amari Jessie went 12-23 for 210 yards and two touchdowns. However, four interceptions stained the inaugural performance. Jessie added 51 rushing yards on 12 carries, a part of OBU's 170 yards on the ground.

Three completions went to Keilahn Harris, who closed the book on his storied career for the green and gold. Harris went for 75 yards, adding to his program record for career receiving yards. Tonight's yard total pushes Harris over 1,000 yards for a second consecutive season. Harris embarks on a new journey after breaking nearly every receiving mark in the OBU record books.

Redshirt sophomore Michael Marshall hauled in his second score of the year, finishing with 69 yards on four catches, while Josiah Drain notched his first touchdown of the year.

Chris Mehn led the rushing attack with 60 yards on nine carries, a career-high for the redshirt junior out of Houston, Texas.

Braden Phipps notched the first rushing touchdown of his career, while Buddy Bizzell turned in 22 yards.

Defensively, Elijah Tomlin led the charge with 12 tackles to conclude a great season. Tomlin finished as the team's leading tackler with 89 stops.

Trajan Lands racked up 12 tackles, while Jake Landers made eight stops with a sack and a forced fumble.

Southern Nazarene built a 14-0 lead before Phipps gave Oklahoma Baptist its first point at the start of the second quarter.

SNU rode its momentum and tacked on a couple more scores to take a 28-7 advantage into the break.

The story was the same in the second as the nation's leader in rushing touchdowns, Gage Porter, couldn't be tamed.

Two scores, one from Michael Marshall and Josiah Drain, highlighted OBU's efforts the rest of the way.

Oklahoma Baptist puts a stamp on its 2022 campaign with hopes of a different outcome in the coming season.
