EDMOND, Okla. - The Oklahoma Baptist softball team could not get the bats going as they dropped a pair of games on the final day of the UCO/OC Softball Festival on the campuses of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma Christian. The Bison fell to Fort Hays State in eight by the score of 1-0 and then dropped the nightcap to Rogers State by the score of 9-1 in five innings.
Despite five stroke innings by
Katie Long, allowing only four hits to go with three strikeouts, as well as a strong 2.1 innings of relief for
Aspen Younce, the Bison could not figure out Michaelanne Nelson as she blanked OBU for the 1-0 win in extra innings.
Against the Hillcats,
Jadyn James drove in
Shelby Savage in the first to take a 1-0 lead. However, the Rogers State offense was too tough, scoring at least a run in each inning en route to a 9-1 win. Savage, James, and
Makylah Hunt all had a hit for the Bison.
Younce got the start and struck out five in 2.2 innings of work while
Kayleigh Jones saw relief work. Long also got a scoreless inning of work in to go with a strikeout.
OBU moved to 4-8 overall and will shift focus to conference play as they head to Alva to take on Northwestern Oklahoma State in a four game series. First pitch is Firday with a double header beginning at 3:00 p.m.
