SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist suffered their first loss of the season in a 2-1 setback to No. 17-ranked DBU on Saturday at the OBU Soccer Complex.
Â
After falling behind in the 12th minute the Bison were able to work their way back into the match and levelled the score in the 27th minute of play.
Ruth King got on the end of a long ball played into the box, but was fouled before she could get a shot off, earning a penalty in the process. Just like Thursday evening,
Reagan Mann stepped to the spot and fired it home past DBU's Hope Koym.
Â
The second half saw the team's trade possession in the middle of the park, but DBU eventually found the decisive goal in the 69th minute with a long-range effort that went over the outstretched fingertips of
Emily Griffith.
Â
With the loss, OBU moves to 1-1 on the season. The Bison will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 11 when they travel to Wichita Falls, Texas, to take on Midwestern State at 5 p.m.
