Short-Handed Bison Suffer Extra Time Setback

OKLAHOMA CITY – Down to 10 men for the final 44:05 of the match, Oklahoma Baptist suffered a 2-1 double-overtime heartbreak to Oklahoma Christian on the road Saturday night.

An opening-minute goal for the home side saw OBU staring up at a 1-0 hole through the remainder of the first half. However, Castillo opened his 2019 account with an unassisted effort in the 53rd minute to draw the Bison level.

Oklahoma Baptist's Felipe Robertson received his marching orders in the 64th minute of action after picking up his second yellow of the match. Though the defense held firm and didn't allow a shot on goal through the final 26 minutes of regulation, and 18 minutes of extra time, OC managed to wear down the short-handed OBU defense and managed to score the golden goal.

The Bison, now 1-1, will resume play on Thursday, Sept. 12 when they welcome Dallas Baptist to the OBU Soccer Complex for the home opener at 7 p.m.
