SHAWNEE – Reagan Mann's penalty kick in the 68th minute proved the difference as the Bison closed out their nonconference slate with a 1-0 win over West Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon at the OBU Soccer Complex.
A foul in the box by the Lady Buffs following an Oklahoma Baptist corner resulted in the Bison earning an attempt from the spot. Mann, who had already converted two penalty kicks this season for OBU, coolly stepped up to hammer home the attempt to break the deadlock.
Despite the narrow scoreline, OBU had WT outgunned and outmanned, enjoying a 35-7 advantage in shots.
Emily Griffith picked up her second win of the season, called into action just three times in the contest as the Bison defense didn't allow a shot on goal in the second half of play.
Oklahoma Baptist, now 2-3-1, have a week off before opening Great American Conference play against rival Southern Nazarene on Saturday, Sept. 28. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. from Shawnee.
