Late Collapse Hands Lacrosse First Loss

ST. LOUIS, Missouri – Oklahoma Baptist fell in overtime, 12-11, to Maryville on the road in St. Louis to move to 2-1 on the season. It's the first loss of the season for the Lady Bison.

Up 11-8 with 4:33 to go in the second half following a Shay Morgan goal off a feed from Devin Miller, the Lady Bison allowed three-straight goals to allow Maryville to tie the game up and force overtime. The Saints then won the opening draw of overtime and scored an unassisted goal to hand OBU their first loss.

Taylor Skomp led OBU with four goals on four shots, and also scooped up nine groundballs. Lauren McCormack was second on the team with three goals and a game-high 17 draw controls. Morgan scored two goals, while Miller and Madison Gordon each had one.

Courtney Barnickle had 11 saves, but took her first loss in goal this year.

Oklahoma Baptist (2-1) has a two-week layoff before their home opener, as well as conference opener, against Colorado-Colorado Springs on Saturday, March 9 at 11 a.m. at the OBU Lacrosse Complex.
