TUCSON, Ariz. – Oklahoma Baptist lost the first two games at the Cactus Softball Classic Friday in Tucson, Ariz. The Lady Bison were beaten 10-4 by Biola (Calif.) and 2-0 by Black Hills State (S.D.).
OBU, now 3-5 on the year, will conclude its Arizona trip with a game Saturday against Texas-Permian Basin.
In the Biola game, OBU took a 2-1 lead after the second inning thanks to both
Kristen Grabin and
Shelby Savage drawing bases-loaded walks.
The lead held into the fourth when Biola put up three runs in three consecutive innings against three different OBU pitchers.
Against Black Hills State, OBU had only three hits with Grabin,
Aspen Grimes and
McKenna Anderson each with a single.
Katie Long pitched well in the circle for OBU. She allowed just seven hits in seven innings. Only one of her two runs were earned. She struck out five and walked three.
