SEARCY, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist head home from Arkansas with a 1-1 mark for the week after dropping a 6-3 decision to Harding on Saturday morning.
After holding firm in the opening 20 minutes of the match, the Bison defense allowed a goal by Harding's Christian Ramos. Oklahoma Baptist found themselves down 2-0 five minutes later after Ramos converted from the spot.
Luis Romero managed to pull one back for OBU in the 26th minute, also from the spot. After
Dominic Gibson sprang the winger free down the right wing, Romero dribbled one defender before being cut down just inside the box to earn the penalty.
Two additional goals by Harding in the second half through Ramos and Adrian Renteria put the match out of reach of OBU despite a second penalty goal by
Alejandro Castillo. Unfortunately for the OBU, Castillo received a second yellow card shortly after his penalty conversion and the Bison played the rest of the match down a player.
The Bison allowed two additional goals after going down to 10 men.
Andrew Simon put the finishing touches on the match, scoring his first goal of the season for OBU off an assist from
Nalan Kentner.
Oklahoma Baptist (4-8-1, 2-6-1 GAC) returns home for a pair of matches next week. The Bison kick off the weekend homestand against Northeastern State on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 PM.
