Bison Off-Target against Tigers

Box Score (xml)

MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma – Oklahoma Baptist men's soccer suffered a second straight defeat to open Great American Conference play, dropping a 2-0 decision to Ouachita Baptist on Saturday in Midwest City, Oklahoma. The match was moved due to heavy rains the day before that rendered the field at the OBU Soccer Complex unplayable.

The Bison thought their three-match goal drought was over when OBU earned a penalty following a handball in the box by Ouachita. Unfortunately, the Tigers' goalkeeper was able to turn away the effort to preserve the tie.

Soon after, Oklahoma Baptist was caught out on a counter by the Tigers and found themselves trailing, 1-0, in the 19th minute. Despite OBU's efforts to level the scoring, including several shots by Bruno Ferreira that pinged off the Ouachita post, the Bison went into halftime trailing by the lone goal.

Oklahoma Baptist surrendered another goal in the 73rd minute, and both teams would play with 10 men for the final 15 minutes of the match. Despite OBU's attempts to search out a goal, they would be held scoreless to end the match.

Bruno Ferreira led the team with nine shots on the day, with one shot testing the Ouachita keeper. Parker Lawter had three saves in the loss.

Oklahoma Baptist (1-9, 0-2 GAC) returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 27 when they face Fort Hays State at the OBU Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
