Lady Bison Top Midwestern State, 2-0

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist got home and got well with a 2-0 win over Midwestern State Thursday.

OBU played its first home game of the season after going 1-3 on the road and the home field was good for what ailed the Lady Bison.

"It was good just to get off turf and back on natural grass," said OBU Coach Mike White.

The Lady Bison got both their goals in the first half and then contained the Midwestern attacks in the second half.

Kelsey Bumgarner settled a carom off the keeper and punched the ball in the net for OBU's first goal, coming in the 16th minute.

Halle Hill scored in the 45th minute, collecting a rebound off a Kerregan Edwards shot and blasting it home for the 2-0 lead.

Emily Griffith turned away seven shots in the game, getting three saves in the first half and four in the second to log her first shutout of the season.

The Lady Bison out-shot the Mustangs 26-12. Ruth King had six shots and Tori Kitchell came off the bench for five shots. Both King and Kitchell had four shots on goal to account for half of the 16 on-target attempts.

Now 2-3, the Lady Bison head back out the road for a 7 p.m. contest Saturday at Texas Woman's University. OBU returns home next Thursday to start Great American Conference action against Harding.
