Lady Bison Run Ends in Tahlequah

TAHLEQUAH – Oklahoma Baptist's first-time run in the NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament came to an end in a 5-1 loss at Northeastern State Sunday afternoon.

"Looking back, it has been an historic year," said OBU Coach Nick Papac. "We won the GAC regular season and conference tournament. We have nothing to hang our heads about. We lost to a great team today. That's not to say that we don't also have a great team, but NSU played well and deserved to win. Going forward, we have a lot to build on and I'm looking forward to next season."

Kateryna Shkot and Kim Moosbacher claimed an 8-4 win over Karla Tomaic and Mayra Jovic at No. 1 doubles, but that was the lone victory for the Lady Bison.

OBU was leading at No. 5 singles, where Madeleine Boepple had a 7-5, 3-4 edge on Betka Gombarova.

Tahlia Walsh at No. 3 singles and Moosbacher at No. 2 singles were both headed into a third set when the RiverHawks clinched the win.

OBU ends the season at 15-5.

Shkot finished her career at OBU with 79 singles and 76 doubles wins. That is a school record in career singles and is second only to her former doubles partner Anastasiya Baranova for doubles wins (77). Her career win total of 155 victories is a school record. Shkot's career records are 79-12 in singles and 76-16 in doubles.
