SAU Takes Two from OBU

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist lost both ends of a doubleheader with No. 12 Southern Arkansas, 5-4 and 10-2, Friday.
 
The Lady Bison had brief one-run leads in both games.
 
OBU fell behind 3-0 in the first game before scoring four times in the fifth inning. Hailey Seago walked and pinch runner Kayla Johnson advanced to second on a sacrifice by Hannah Danielson. Shelby Savage singled to center and Johnson advanced to third.
 
Savage stole second and Johnson scored on an errant pickoff throw. Savage scored on an error and Kristen Grabin scored on a two-run home run by Dani Manning.
 
SAU scored twice in the bottom of the fifth. Amanda Peterson (2-1) took the loss while striking out four.
 
OBU had seven hits, including two each by Manning and Katie Reyes.
 
The Lady Bison struck first in the second game when Manning singled, stole second and eventually scored on a base hit by Bry Flanagan.
 
Flanagan homered in the fourth for the only other OBU run.
 
The Lady Bison had nine hits, including two each by Flanagan and Grabin.
 
Chandler Roberts (0-3) took the loss.
 
The same two teams meet in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at Lady Bison Park.
