Skyhawks Take Down Lady Bison

DURANGO, Colo. – (HTML Box Score) Oklahoma Baptist concluded a lengthy road trip Saturday afternoon, falling to Fort Lewis College 16-4.

It was the final meeting of a season-high three straight games away from home, and covered two states over five days. The trip represented the first conference road games for OBU since joining the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Paige Morrison scored first for the Lady Bison, pulling OBU within two goals at 3-1 with 22:37 remaining in the first half.

Fort Lewis netted two more goals to extend their lead to 5-1 before Maysn Ungerer scored her second goal of the year with 16:45 left in the first half. The Skyhawks took a 7-2 lead into halftime.

Alexis Martin scored twice in the second half for the Lady Bison, bringing her season total to 11 goals.

Freshman goalkeeper Courtney Barnickle finished the game with 17 saves, the second-most in program history. She posted a save percentage of .515 for the game, and finished with the most saves for OBU since Sabrina Attaway made 19 in March 2014.

Barnickle also paced the Lady Bison with six ground balls, with Allison Ingrim scooping up four herself. Ingrim also led the way with three draw controls, and Breanna Wichert and Morgan Urick won two draw controls each.

Now 2-6 on the season and 0-4 in RMAC play, OBU returns home to host four consecutive RMAC opponents. Up next is Colorado State-Pueblo on March 22 at 4 p.m. at the OBU Lacrosse Complex.
