SHAWNEE – David Estrada picked up two goals and marshalled an Oklahoma Baptist defensive front that allowed just one shot on goal as the Bison picked up a 2-0 win over Southwest Baptist on Saturday afternoon in Shawnee.
Â
After a scoreless first half, the Bison found their scoring touch off a pair of corner kicks in the final 30 minutes of the match. Estrada scored what proved to be the match-winner in the 63rd minute, heading home a lofted corner off
Stormy Arledge's service from the right corner. Then, in the 80th minute, OBU's senior defender got on the end of a one-touch pass from
Michael Stewart off another Arledge corner for an easy tap-in to put OBU up 2-0.
Â
Estrada and Arledge, along with
Josue De Paz and
Michael Stewart, made up a defensive back line that limited the Bearcats to just six shots. Only one shot got past that front, and
Parker Lawter tidied up with his lone save of the afternoon en route to his first individual clean sheet in a month.
