ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas - Vicente Castillo scored two goals and Oklahoma Baptist advanced to the Great American Conference championship with a 2-1 win over Harding Friday.
After dispatching the Bisons, the Bison now face the other OBU – Ouachita Baptist – for the finals at 2 p.m., Sunday. The OBUs split two matches this season with the Bison hanging the only conference loss on Ouachita.
Castillo gave the Bison a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute, playing a pass from Alec Young for a breakaway. That lead stood the remainder of the half.
Jackson Buchanan tied the score for Harding in the 53rd minute, but Castillo scored his 12th goal of the season and second of the game in the 70th minute.
Luis Romero passed to Castillo, who beat the keeper for the final margin.
The Bison were out-shot by Harding 19-10, but the Bison put six shots on goal. Castillo had four shots on goal with Marcus Oliveira and Martin Romero getting the other two.
Colin Spencer had two saves in the game and Truman Berghall had one.
OBU advances to the finals with a 6-12 record.
