Shawnee Country Club

The OBU men’s and women’s golf teams practice and play home tournaments at the prestigious Shawnee Country Club located just three miles from Bison Hill. Through OBU's agreement with the club, Bison golfers have access to practice and play as long as the course is open.

Founded in 1929, the Shawnee Golf and Country Club opened in a location slightly south of its current clubhouse. The original nine holes were designed by Perry Maxwell. In 1980 the course underwent an extensive re-design, though still nine holes, under the direction of Bruce Devlin. Seventeen years later, the membership sold ownership of the club to private investors. That same year, in addition to the completion of a new clubhouse and residential development surrounding the course and the 10 acre practice facility, the golf course was again re-designed, this time by Bland Pittman, and expanded to its current 18 holes.

In addition to numerous junior and amateur events throughout the year, the club is also the proud host to the annual Oil Valley Championship. Having been contested since 1930, it is the longest running amateur championship in Oklahoma.
