Hurt Memorial Athletic Complex

The Hurt Memorial Athletic Complex, located on the west end of campus, includes Hurt Field, Hurt Memorial Track, the Jay P. Chance Track Building and the Mathena Center.

Hurt Field and the Hurt Memorial Track were built together in 2008 and re-tooled to accommodate football in 2011. The renovation included bleacher and chairback seating on both the east and west sides of the field, the addition of a four-section press box and a video scoreboard and sound system.

The track received a complete re-surfacing in 2019.

The 2008 construction also included a timing station in the southwest corner of the complex that houses timing equipment, sound system, and space for broadcasts and meet officials.

The Jay P. Chance Building was originally built for baseball and softball in 2004 and from 2007-2014 it housed the track and soccer coaches’ offices. In 2007, the former hitting facility portion of the building was renovated to accommodate indoor pole vault and other track activities. The soccer coaches moved to Agee Residence Center in 2014, making room for each track assistant coach to have his or her own office.

The Mathena Center is home to OBU’s sports medicine team and includes taping stations, whirlpools and a garage for the team’s vehicles. It was opened in 2014.
